SEAGATE EXOS 12TB - Opening

SEAGATE EXOS 12TB

SEAGATE EXOS 12TB arrived to us a few days ago for diagnosis to save data.

It is a newer model of Seagate hard drive, with a massive capacity for data storage

As is usually the case with helium discs, this EXOS model comes in a hermetically sealed housing that actually has its own welded aluminum membrane to prevent helium from evaporating.

What was very challenging to us during opening hard drive was to find the best position for the tool that would approach the aluminum membrane in a safe way and so that the incision would not accidentally damage any inner part of the disk.

When we found a position that we recognized as good, we started the cutting process

By using our helium opener tool we successfully removed the aluminum membrane.

See how the process of cutting and removing the membrane went in the video clip.
